Easy DIY Lit Monogram

If you come to my house, you will find the letter “B” everywhere! This do-it-yourself lit monogram from Polka Dot Bride caught my eye and looks very simple to make. This piece will stand out during an outdoor evening reception or backyard barbecue!

You will need a set of Christmas lights and a wire frame letter. This project used Swiss Miss 10″ Wire Frame Letters and Ikea’s Staala lights. You will also need some wire to attach the lights to the wire letter. Craft stores sell this type of wire in their jewelry department.

Start wrapping the lights around the wire letter. Every now and then, secure the lights with wire.

If you want to hang the letter, attach some pretty some ribbon to the top. Voila! Easy and exquisite.

Different ways to tie chair sashes

Chair sashes can add detail a pop of color to any event. Many customers ask us how to tie the chair covers, and here are some ideas to get you started.

Tying chair sashes takes longer than you think (we know from experience!). Make sure you practice and leave plenty of time in your schedule for sash tying. This is a great activity for people who want to help with your event!

Knotted Chair Sash
The easiest and fastest way to tie a chair sash is in a knot. You can either tie in a traditional knot, or hide the knot. This video gives you a great tip for hiding the knot once you have it tied.






One Loop Bow Sash
The one loop bow sash is unique, yet fairly easy to tie. To learn how, watch this video.










Traditional Bow Sash
Tying a bow sash is fairly easy as well. The trick is to make sure you pull the knot tight before you loop the bow. This video shows you how.









Side Bow Sash

Real Wedding - Miramont Country Club - Bryan, Texas

Crystal Lynn Rasor married Matthew Alan Scamardo on May 28, 2011 in front of 250 guests at the beautiful Miramont. These absolutely amazing moments were captured courtesy of Thomas Ross Photography)!


As friends and family walked into the venue, a table decorated with the couple's photographs welcomed guests. Details was lucky to provide decorations for the couple's big day! Black and white accents popped on pink backgrounds.


After the ceremony, guests enjoyed the patio which was dressed appropriately with pink pops of color. Distinctive Floral Designs from Houston, Texas did the flower arrangements.



Family and friends enjoyed a sit-down meal under mood-setting lights by Partyman Entertainment. DJ Rusty Snyder from Partyman kept the party going!



After the meal, guests enjoyed two beautiful cakes. A pastry chef at Miramont made Crystal and Matt's sweet dreams come true!




Speaking of sweets, the newlyweds treated guests to a candy bar! YUM!



After planning such a lavish event, Crystal had several pieces of advice for brides in the planning process:


"If you’re planning a wedding in College Station, consider yourself lucky. You should be thankful you don’t have 30 photographers to choose from; say if you’re planning in Dallas. But don’t limit yourself. If you don’t find a vendor that you love, pull from the next largest city. ...That way you get exactly what you’re looking for. Don’t become overwhelmed, at first it seems like you have a million things to do. And let me tell you, you do! But you can only do things one at a time, and that’s the best way to take them."

"What should I do to the ceiling at my wedding?"

In my days working at a wedding venue, a lot of brides had trouble deciding what to do with the ceiling. I hope this post will take your wedding wow factor from floor to ceiling.

Instead of trying to decorate the whole ceiling, just focus on a smaller area like over the dance floor, entry way or guest tables.

These Christmas balls make a big impact when draped above banquet tables. Use thread instead of fishing wire to hang the balls. Fishing line is too light for the balls and tends to curl up since it’s been wrapped in a spool. Depending on the ceiling, you may need to hang a grid to tie your ornaments to. We rent ceiling hooks for $0.50each. These hooks attach to grid ceilings and hold up to 15 pounds. Use chain from your local hardware store to hang the grid.


We hung these pink chandeliers in between each guest table. The chandelier tiers were made from different sized wire wreath frames. We used floral wire to attach artificial flowers to the rings. On the day of the wedding, we hung fresh flowers from ribbon to add dimension and height. Because the chandeliers were hung overhead, guests will assume all of the flowers are real.

We also draped the ceiling with some fabric we found at a store in Dallas. We hung rods from the ceiling and sewed a pocket in the edge of the fabric. We spray painted a garage-sale chandelier black plugged the chandelier into the ceiling. We draped Christmas lights between the panels of fabric to create a starry atmosphere over the dance floor.

Draping a ceiling with fabric can make an over-sized room seem cozier and less overwhelming.

Sneak Peak – Spring Wedding at Double Creek Crossing

The May weather was perfect for the Vidrine wedding at Double Creek Crossing. We stopped by to take a few pictures of the details, but we can’t wait to see the professional pictures! We wanted to give you a sneak peak of the fabulous event! Thanks to Katie for letting Details Event & Party Rental help with her big day!

The natural setting of the venue is one of the best in the Brazos Valley. They also have a great back-up plan in case of rain! Katie chose a bright color scheme that really popped against burgundy. The sign-in table was adorned with bengaline fabric in wine. Arriving guests strolled down the rock pathway to their seats and received a program that doubled as a fan.



The couple exchanged vows below the shade trees and a gorgeous arch adorned with orange, pink and lime flowers. Bright rose petals lined the stone aisle, and green pomander balls hung from several chairs. The bride added a pop of color with hot pink chair sashes tied to white garden chairs.







The bride’s cake table was our favorite part! Katie saw the idea of adding pearls around the cake in a magazine. She used a pearl broach to drape the linen, adding elegant detail.




Guests could also choose from a variety of homemade pies. This gives more options than the traditional groom’s cake. The couple utilized the furniture at the venue to display engagement photos. Personalizing your wedding will set it apart from others and make guests feel more connected to the couple.





The centerpieces included vase trios of varying heights with black rocks and submerged flowers. Floating candles at the top help keep the flowers in place and cast a romantic glow when the sun goes down.




The gift table was adorned with a “bright apple green” pintuck runner.



Instead of just putting the food on the table, the caterer added interest with mirrors and hurricane vases. The candle light will help guests see food when it gets a little darker. A few leftover flowers brought in the colors scheme.

Bouquet Beauties

Your bouquet is an essential part of the big day. Next to your lovely face, it is the things people will be looking at most- literally! It is important to characterize this bunch to represent YOU. Here are five flowers that frequent bouquets, and several other ideas to spruce up this handful of flowers!

Keep in mind that each flower blooms best in a specific season. Talk to your florist about availability as this may effect pricing.

1) Calla Lily. This structured beauty is a common bud in bouquets. It blooms best in summer and is available in a wide range of colors.


2) Rose. This classic stunner is regal distinguished. Consider the different varieties of size and count on the fullest bloom in autumn. Roses can be dyed to match almost any color.


3) Peony. Symmetrical, full and fun, this is my personal favorite! The flirtatious flower is a spring bud available in countless hues.

4) Hydrangea. Known for it's soft, cool hues, this bloom is surprisingly a summer bud! This is beautiful by itself or can be paired with another flower for size or texture variety.

5) Tulip. The tulip is a spring staple! Though there is little fluctuation in structure, the color options are endless.

Recently, I had a friend come to me with a problem. She was next in line to wear her family's heirloom locket. As her wedding approached, she admitted there was no room for the GOLD locket in her SILVER wedding. What was a girl to do? I suggested having her florist wrap the keepsake around her bouquet. This way, the tradition was held dear, but didn't clash with the decor! I tied my late grandmother's wedding ring into my bouquet to make her a special part of my day.
